Specifications:
  • This equipment should consists of
    A DC Power Supply of 1.5V to 15V/250mA for Gate current/Gate Voltage
    A DC Power Supply of 2.5V to 35V/500mA for load Current.
    A variable load resistance and gate resistance potentiometers which suits the above requirement (Care to be taken so that minimum load
    resistance is present in the load and a short is avoided).

GATE FIRING CKT FOR SCR’S

Specifications:

A) R& RC Triggering of SCR
This unit consists of an SCR, AC Supply of 20V, Resistance
Capacitance and associated components required to study the
 resistance triggering of SCR.
B) Basic DC Firing Circuit
This unit consists of an SCR, DC Source of 10V, AC Source of 10V and
 variable DC source using potentiometer for gate supply to study the
 firing of SCR Using DC Supply.
C) UJT Triggering of SCR
This firing circuit generates two pulse transformers
 isolated trigger pulses to trigger 2 SCR’s/TRIAC
connected in single phase half wave, full wave, half controller converter and AC Phase control using 2SCR’s or using TRIAC.This firing CKT should be useful to study the UJT relaxation Oscillator is synchronous and asynchronous modes.

FORCED COMMUTATION STUDY UNIT

Specifications:
  • (Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D, Class E)
    This unit consists of two SCR’s, Two diodes and different values of
     communication components. These components can be interconnected
     to form power circuit to study.
    1. Self communication by load resonance(Class A)
    2. Self-Communication using L-C Circuit(Class B)
    3. Complimentary SCR Communication(Class C)
    4. Auxiliary Communication(Class-D)
    5. External Communication(Class-E)

    Firing circuit for the above circuit should have frequency variation and duty cycle. The unit should come with built in DC unregulated power supply of 24@1A.

JHONES CHOPPER WITH R & RL LOADS

Specifications:
  • A) Jones Chopper Power Circuit:
    This unit consists of 2 SCR’s, 2 diodes and tightly coupled commutating center tap
     inductor interconnected to form Jones chopper power circuit. All the devices are
     mounted on a suitable heat sink and protected by snubber circuit, fuse. All the
    connections are brought out to front panel. DC Chopper Firing Circuit should be
    Provided to trigger the SCR’s in this power circuit.

    B) DC Chopper Firing Circuit:
    This Unit generates firing pulses to trigger 2SCR’s connected in Auxiliary commutated Chopper circuit should consists of 1 Main SCR and 1 Auxiliary SCR .They should be based  on timer, Ramp generator, OP-Amp, Comparator, and pulse transformer isolation method, works directly on 230V AC mains, Frequency and duty cycle variation. Test points to study the logic circuit.

    transformer type to form cyclo converter power circuit.
    Each device should be mounted on a suitable heat sink protected by a
    snubber circuit, fuse and circuit breaker.
    A digital Voltmeter and an ammeter for measurment of output voltage
     and current are to be provided. All the connections are to be brought
    to the front panel. This unit should also be useful for R and RL Loads.

    This Unit generates 4 synchronized firing pulses based on Micro controller to trigger SCR’s connected in center-tapped transformer type cyclo converter.
    Features:-
    Work on 230 AC mains, 200mA gate drive current to trigger wide range of devices. Frequency division - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. firing angle variation from 180 degree to 0 degree, on a graduated scale. Test points provided in the logic circuit.

    This setup consists of:
    1. Three Phase converter firing circuit based on Ramp-comparator method:

    This unit generates  6Nos of three phase synchronized isolated trigger pulses to fire SCR’s connected in three phase half wave, half controlled bridge, fully controller bridge and AC
     phase control power circuit. The firing circuit is based on ZCD, Ramp
    generator, Op-amp, comparator, Amplifier/Pulse transformer isolation
    method.
